Fair weather fans

Bob chuckled at the bottle-nose swimming lazily across the Bills mug beside him.

His Buffalo-born wife would not tolerate his “gaudy sports memorabilia” in her kitchen, so he’d been touched last year when, with a stained glass circle, she’d acknowledged his fanatic love for the Miami team.

She’d been on the road for a week now, promoting her newest book, and the kitchen reflected his temporary bachelorhood. Faced with a sinkful of dirty dishes and an immediate need for caffeine, team loyalty had vanished with the sunrise; he’d shamelessly abandoned the Dolphins in favor of the cabinet’s sole clean mug.

Cute little take on the prompt – an dpretty original I think. I haven’t heard anything from those Dolphin fans yet.

Fair weather fan, yes. My goodness. His fanhood is in question! Fun, creative take. I, too, have not heard from the Dolphin fans.

You might get into trouble from your brothers for stereotyping here! But nice take. Through the use of the dolphin image, you captured well the contrasts and perhaps conflicts between the husband and wife. The tone was light and so I expect their conflicts are, too. 🙂

A neat story – I am assuming the Dolphins are a sports team?

    Dear Michelle,

I hope he figures out how to wash dishes before she gets back from her book tour. With the one clean mug, you painted a picture of the kitchen. Good job as always.
