A mother’s worst nightmare

18 Oct

“Have you seen my baby? My baby? Have you seen him? Sir? SIR!? Did you see someone take my baby? He was right here in the cart. I just bent down to get a case of soda and now he’s gone. WHERE’S MY BABY?”

“Ma’am, I’m the store manager. You’re causing quite a scene. Other customers are frightened. What seems to be the problem?”

“My baby! He’s missing! Someone’s taken my baby! Please! Help me! Ryan! RYYYANNNN!!!”

Leanne sat bolt upright in the inky pre-dawn gloom, sweaty sheets tangled around her bulging abdomen.

I’m going to be a terrible mom.

Very clever use of ‘Nightmare’, neat tale of panic and anguish.

    Dear Michelle,

This left me speechless. Suffice it to say I love it. Great story. Nuff said.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

    Dear Michelle,

Great story and though I don’t think I agree with your protagonist’s sentiment in the last line, I thought it a wonderful finish to a powerful piece.

    Aloha,

    Doug

That was a great telling of one of a mother’s worst nightmares! So many times, sad to tell, I have turned around, to find my child simply gone, only to pop up in the make-up section!

That is a mother’s worst nightmare. I’m shuddering at the thought. Very good emotion to the story. Struck a emotional chord!

Me too! I don’t have kids, but I do have crazy dreams. I can see me having this kind of nightmare if I were expecting.
