Ever hear of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act?

“How’d the interview go, hon?”

“Like the last one. From the receptionist to the head of HR, all anyone could look at was the chair. Like it matters if a CPA has legs! I don’t expect them to call.”

“Their loss. You’d think your pre-deployment résumé would outshine the chrome on that wheelchair.”

“You’d think. But wait. I met a guy on my way out. He’s a vet, too, with his own business. It’s grown so much that he’s looking for an accountant. I start Monday!”

“Wow! I guess it really is true: when one door closes, another one opens.”

    Dear Michelle,

I saved you for dessert and what a sweet taste your story has left in my mind. Your story was imaginative, well written, outside of the box, true to life, moving, compelling and uplifting. Top five territory this week. Well done. (And thank you for writing it.)

    Aloha,

    Doug

Wow, Doug, thank you for such high praise! I read through many of the other submissions before linking up with mine (I always fear that my idea will have already been done, better than I did, and I’ll be back to the drawing board), and there are quite a few quality stories out there, so your words really mean a lot. Thank you!

    Dear Michelle,

I expect quality from you and have never been disappointed. This piece is a standout from beginning to end. A lot of story in 100 words. Applause! Bravo!

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

As a relative newbie to the Friday Fictioneers group, I am always worried whether my story is going to be original enough or complete enough to stand with the veteran writers. Your kind words give me the courage to keep returning. This is a truly great place to submit pieces for thoughtful and constructive comments.

Don’t sell yourself short. You are already one of the good ones and among my top ten favorites. Anytime I can encourage you to keep going, let me know.
